So, tell us a little about yourself...

Ilovedust are four designers based in Emsworth just outside of Chichester, 2 english, 1 chinese and 1 icelandic make up the team and we create lots of nice shit.

What's i love dust all about, and how did it get started?

We started three years ago, myself and Ben Beach worked at a clothing label and formed a friendship that led to us jumping ship and starting our own thing.

When did you first realise that design was your calling.. do you remember what drove you to start?

Hell I dont know if its our calling but it makes us all very happy , I dont think we're ones to get to up our own ass about what we do, Its fun we enjoy it and are lucky enough to be able to make a living out of it and travel about meeting new people and seeing new things.

What type of projects does the studio work on and is there a particular type of client you tend to lean towards?

We work on alot of american projects, some BIG some much smaller, this year has been great for us working on people like Beyonce on one hand and then people like Metronomy on the other.

You have in the past worked with some high profile companies and clients, how do you find working with clients as opposed to personal work?

I think its pretty similar to be fair, people like what we do enough to ask us to do more, of course some things are toned down but we do get kinda sexual with it all when we can, its about trust and rocking the boat at the same time.

Ultimate project you'd love to be involved in or undertake?

Hmm fuck that would be a neverending argument here! i think we would all like to work with the likes of Nike and Stussy etc, but also collab with people we love like Jeff Soto, Friends with You, Tado, Wk Interact.

You used to be deeply into skating.. what got you into it back in the old days? Do you feel that there are similarities between skateboarding and art?

Man i loved skating I wish i could go back and just jump school gates and bomb through schools again hitting sets of 4, finding little banks with sketchy coping on top! I guess if you don't skate you will never really know the feeling of spirit and family, that may sound gay but its true, we were all tight as a group.

So whats the story behind the deck and clothing graphics that youve designed?

I think we wanted to do two decks! one you could paint and another we already coloured, a nod and a wink to the old Blind boards before they went all skull mad.

Describe your daily routine?

Awake, feed dog. coffee/tea, jump in the car, drive to work about twenty mins, get in get itunes, Playstation, coffee,check mail, reply to mail, general design work and calls playstation, more work, walk dog, home for eight, feed dog, work til ten, sport news, work a bit, watch a movie, sleep.

Hobbies and interests outside of design?

i love walking my dog Hesk, travelling, cooking, movies.

What advice would you give to students of art and illustration or people who are looking to break into the world of paid work?

Work for free, make some tea, people will be more willing to keep you on! It's tough to break into it so grab it or someone with more enthusiasm will.

If you could offer a gem of knowledge to the people reading this, what would it be?

Failure means you tried, a lotta people never fail because they never try anything new, thats failure.
